What We Are

Oct 6
1 min read

And what we are not

Gods, angels

No demon

But smiling

Silently lost

Downcast, or humorous

Hiding souls

Our causes

Tucked within

For the final time

Our sons and daughters may see

While the sickness and the powerful

Seek to grind us under heel

Our hates I’ll manifest as rage

But like the thinking thorn

Wields artful purpose to shake

Not fruit from a tree

But what ought, what must from “may be”.

Watch the world die

Under clear windless skies

And when it passes

And I live under different stars.
